Willing to Fight?

Do you ever get irritated?  Dumb question, isn't it?  Shamefully I tend to be more easily irritated by God's children than by the lost.  The Church is truly God's biggest tool for growing me.  I guess I forget that no one ever 'arrives'--myself included.  I am convicted of my own shortcomings most clearly when I refuse the temptation of complaining about my brothers and sisters in Christ.

In my time with the Lord this morning, He reminded me that He really doesn't need me to fight His battles.  In fact, the passage I read repeatedly had God saying "I will."  The God who created all and orchestrates all has the details in view--and a purpose for all.  What He wills, He is willing (and intending) to bring about.  He didn't call me to convict others of what they need to do.  I need to heed His call and do what He desires for me to do--while rejoicing in what He has done and allows me to do!

So instead of being like Don Quixote who battled with windmills, I must choose to battle my own will and simply trust Him.  When my spirit 'rises' up and is no longer humbly rejoicing in HIS will and willingness, I need to see the red flag of pride.  Jerusalem, the place of religious pride, suffered captivity; Bethlehem, the place of a humble stable, became the source of salvation.

Jesus said He was meek and humble in spirit; He is the One I am to be like.  Meekness is strength under control; it moves me toward the call of God in His ways.  I 'will' nothing good on my own; it is all Him...and He is willing me to rejoice in Him.  That will lead others to do the same.  Have a blessed day!
