Exodus: Chapter 35

The sufficiency of God is what always comes to mind when I contemplate the Sabbath regulations.  It is so easy to get caught up in 'to do' lists and illusions of necessity.  The reminder that our loving Father, Creator of all, completed His work in six days is SO comforting, isn't it?  One day in seven to remember how awesome He is--that's really not too much to ask!

The diversity of the gifts need and the call for willing hearts to fulfill the plan of God is a timeless message.  The Old Testament uses the phrase 'wise-hearted' in the call for skilled workers.  All that was associated with the worship of God was entrusted to those with wise hearts.  Today, believers are the very temple of the Holy Spirit.  Christians are called to build up those around them with the same skill--with the wisdom and truth of Jesus Christ.

Finally, the chapter closes reminding us that the Spirit gave all that was needed:  "Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work..."  God has not changed; the Spirit still provides.  We can trust Him to work in and through us as we seek to worship with pure hearts.
