Is God on the throne in your life?

When we allow the stuff of life to push God off the throne, our lives plummet to depths of ugliness.  With God off the throne, our lives are derailed from His purpose.  The book of Romans declares the righteousness of God—and our amazing privilege of revealing His righteousness in this world.
Righteousness—weight, glory and ‘right’ direction—is lost when we trade truth for lies.  And we all do it.  It happens almost without notice.  Check out this list of ugly symptoms that reveal His dethroning.

envy, murder, quarreling, deceit, viciousness, whisperers, slanderers, God-haters, haughty, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to their parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless...or judging others as having any of those things.

With  any of those things present in our lives, the righteousness of God is covered.  They enter in when we choose to put a personal passion on the throne God alone deserves.  Paul says we ‘exchange the glory of the incorruptible’ for an earthly passion which promises what it cannot deliver.  It might be a destructive way of meeting a real need that plops itself on the throne of our life.  It is more likely to be a good thing in its own right—but nothing compared to God.  It may be an opinion we hold dear, a position of authority or honor that we covet or a person we long to please.  Anything other than God that rules our life clouds His glory.

The solution is as simple as the sin.  Change what you treasure.  Paul says those who experience that ugliness did not think it worthwhile to retain the full knowledge of God.   If God in all His fullness is our continual aim, people will see Him in all His glory.  It does not mean we will be perfect in all our actions; it means we will demonstrate faith in Him.  His glory is revealed from faith to faith…we will continually grow stronger in our faith.  Let’s press forward today—forward toward Jesus:  the King of Kings who longs to share our lives.  There is GLORY!
