Journey to Hope

This year's scripture journey walked me into Lamentations this morning.  This is the book that has some beautiful verses many know:

They (His mercies) are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.   (Chapter 3, verses 23 & 24)

The book opens up with the cries (the lamentations) over the devastation in Judah.  Sorrow for losses and self-pity lead to a pit of dark isolation.  The death of false hopes and the realization that our own strength is deficient opens the door for the light of real Hope.  Our God is the God of Hope...and biblical hope does not disappoint.  A soul that humbly cries out is the soul that receives His mercies.  Let your heartaches take you beyond the dark loneliness to the Life that is light.
